Teaching with Art in the Galleries

The museum maintains an active program of changing exhibitions that display works from the permanent collection as well as from outside collections. WCMA's exhibition calendar is planned several years in advance; please feel free to contact the museum to learn about our current and upcoming exhibitions.

Class Visits to the Galleries:
Professors routinely hold class sessions in WCMA's galleries. Please contact the education department at 413-597-2038 to schedule a class visit that will not conflict with another group, and to confirm that the exhibition or works of art to be studied will be available on the day of the visit.

Student Assignments:
Professors often give students assignments to write about works of art on view in the museum’s galleries. Because the museum frequently changes its exhibitions and individual works of art on display, please contact Elizabeth Gallerani, Mellon Foundation Programs Assistant, in advance to confirm the works you have selected will remain on view throughout the assignment period. It is also recommend that you remind your students about the museum’s hours.
