The exhibition and symposium are a tribute to the late Kirk Varnedoe, Williams Class of 1967. He was Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art and organized a major Pollock retrospective in 1998. Varnedoe's friends and classmates have established a fund to create a named professorship in his honor for the Department of Art at Williams College.
