Concert, family activity, faculty exhibition, shop sale at Williams College Musem of Art will enliven Holiday Walk route Dec. 6
Music lovers, budding artists, and bargain hunters will mingle Dec. 6 at the Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) at several activities planned to [coincide with] the Williamstown Holiday Walk.
Suzuki in the Berkshires, a group of area [flutists], will perform [at 3 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.], and a family art-making activity will be held in the interactive Rirkrit Tiravanija installation from 2-4.
The Rirkrit Tiravanija installation, untitled, 1977 (playtime), is a building frame to which visitors are encouraged to add their own artwork, using materials supplied in the gallery. Since it was installed in August, countless school groups and visitors have transformed the structure, using items such as autumn leaves, bricks, foil, and felt. Children and adults are invited to participate.
Opening that day at the museum is the Studio [Art] Faculty Group Exhibition, featuring works by thirteen members of the Williams College art faculty in a wide range of media, including video, photography, architectural models, sculpture, and painting (through Feb. 1, 1988).
Also on Dec. 6, the WCMA Museum Shop will offer holiday shoppers a variety of discounted art-related gift items, including jewelry, exhibition posters, artbooks, notecards, children's items, and artist t-shirts, during its tenth annual holiday sale.
