Williams College
Museum
of Art Presents "Projections," A Workshop for Teachers K-12 featuring
artist Nicole Cohen
Friday, October 3, 2003, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
at the Williams College Museum of Art
The Education Department at the Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) will
present a workshop for teachers on Friday, October 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. The workshop, "Projections," is designed for teachers K-12
who are interested in bringing students to the museum for interactive, dynamic
programs, and want to learn more about video art. Teachers are invited to
spend the day at WCMA and MASS MoCA, exploring new ways to bring art and
video into their classrooms and introduce students to the museum.
The daylong workshop is a unique opportunity for teachers to meet and work
with artist Nicole Cohen, creator of WCMA’s new video installation My
Vie en Rose. Participants will work together to create video art of their own,
and the day will end with a guided visit of video installations in MASS MoCA’s
Yankee Remix exhibition. The day will also feature discussions of works of
art throughout the museum, and will include hands-on projects designed to help
participants understand particular concepts presented in works of art. Barbara
Robertson, Director of Education, will lead a discussion on “context,
fact and fiction.”
A fee of $15 is required with pre-registration, which covers workshop activities,
curriculum materials, coffee, and lunch. To register, or for more information
about this workshop and other programs offered by the Education Department,
please call 413.597.2038. Registration is limited.
The Williams College Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Saturday, from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and the
museum is wheelchair accessible.
